Griffenfeldsgade 27 ( Nørrebro, Copenhagen)
Get to know this time-honored ‘painting on water’ technique. Make your own prints.Paper marbling is a longstanding craft. It was practiced in Japan already in 1100. And much later, with the help of travellers it finally reached Europe. Marbled papers were mostly used to decorate precious documents, album covers, endpapers or furniture.
It is a painting technique on water solution, which is beforehand prepared by mixing in carrageenan powder. You place a sheet of paper on top and lift it up to reveal the imprinted image. Every piece of marbled paper comes differently that is why it is such a unique type of printmaking. During the workshop we will experiment with tools and gestures that are applied to create different paint movements as well as explore the chance to create unpredictable new patterns.
Small groups or single individuals are welcome. Duration ~2 hours.
Workshops are hosted on weekdaysand Saturdays from 10 until 3pm.
During the summer and September I will also make evening class available at 5pm.
